This painting is part of my City Scenes at night and features Eldon Square. At the centre of the square we have a cenotaph with George and the Dragon sitting on top. I find it odd that this isnt lit to its full potential and would create quite a striking feel to the square if it was. The Square is surrounded by Eldon Square shopping centre to which it has taken its name. I do like the way in which the lights of the shopping centre surround the square and it is the heartbeat of this wonderful city. Since I can remember this square has traditionally been home to the Goths in Newcastle and on long summer days they can been seen hanging out with each other in all their finary.
