Renaissance paintings are most often encountered in churches and galleries, where familiarity can sometimes mean we admire them without really looking.
Renaissance art, especially the work of Leonardo da Vinci, first inspired my own love of painting. This work is both a tribute to that influence and an exploration of how those timeless images can speak to us today.
By relocating the Annunciation to London's famous graffiti tunnel, I wanted to see whether changing the setting could change the way we experience a familiar image. For me, Renaissance refers not only to the artistic movement, but also to the idea of rebirth, seeing something we thought we already knew with fresh eyes
