What is a city without it’s people. There are so many places in the centre closing and looking sad and empty. We get a glimpse of how this could change when the Christmas markets come to the Toon. The lights, the people, and that noise of chatter when people are just enjoying what is being laid out in front of them. I wanted to capture this feeling in this painting, and I love the little cameos of people either in pairs, like the couple in the foreground or those under the canvas on the right.
